CHALIECO has a range of state-of-art mining technologies. We have designed and built China’s first large green mine with an altitude of over 5,000m, which is the highest mine in the world, as well as China’s largest copper mine and China’s first high-altitude open-pit to underground mining mine. We have overcome a series of technical problems in the safe and efficient development of deep resources. For example, we have designed and constructed China’s deepest shaft in Huize Lead-Zinc Mine with a depth of 1,526 m, and the shaft with the fastest lifting speed in Ashele Copper Mine in Xinjiang. Our core technologies, such as hydrometallurgical ore washing for desilication from bauxite, integrated new mineral processing technology for Mo-Bi-WO3 fluorite complex polymetallic ores, and mine ecological restoration technology, have been popularized and applied.


CHALIECO is taking the lead in global metallurgical technology. Since the introduction and absorption of Nippon Light Metal’s 160kA aluminum electrolysis technology in 1980s, we have successively developed series of electrolytic technologies, such as 180kA, 280kA, 320kA, 350kA, 400kA, 500kA and 600kA, allowing our large-scale aluminum electrolytic cell technologies to be applied in the world. With the wide application of the latest green and low-carbon technologies, such as energy-saving and long-life aluminum electrolytic cell cathode manufacturing technology and equipment, the electrolytic aluminum production capacity designed by CHALIECO has accounted for over 80% of China’s total capacity. Furthermore, these technologies have been exported to Turkey, Malaysia, Indonesia, Italy, etc. In terms of alumina, we have developed a complete set of technology for 1,400kt/a super-large high-temperature Bayer alumina production line. We have also been capable of manufacturing the world’s largest low calorific value fuel roaster and the most energy-saving roaster, developed the 18m large-scale energy-saving mechanical stirring decomposition tank technology to lower the energy consumption of stirring by more than 20%, and initiated the semi-dry, dry and wet-to-dry technologies for red mud dams in China. In terms of copper, lead and zinc smelting, we have taken the lead in designing and as the general contractor of China’s first 400kt/a side-blown copper smelting project, designed China’s first 100kt/a oxygen pressure leaching-based zinc smelting project and world’s first 300kt/a oxygen pressure leaching-based zinc smelting project.


CHALIECO has the only research and development institute of nonferrous metal processing design in China, which is possessing over 90% share of China’s large and medium-sized nonferrous metal processing engineering design market. In recent years, we have undertaken the research and development of rolling or supporting equipment for more than 60% newly-built or expanded copper/aluminum plate strip production enterprises, and developed China’s first series of 6-roller aluminum plate strip cold rolling mill units (2,800mm and 2,300mm). Our full oil recovery technology of the energy-saving and environment-friendly aluminum rolling mill has basically replaced the imported system, and its share in the domestic market has reached 70%. Our self-developed technologies and equipment have been exported to 20 countries and regions in Asia, Europe, America and Africa.


CHALIECO has always placed focuses on new formats and new fields, where we keep constant exploration and innovation. We have been promoting the digital transformation of nonferrous metal mines, smelting, processing and other fields, maximizing the application of electrolytic cell control technology, and creating a new mode of digital delivery. Our achievements include a number of digital intelligent system construction and application demonstration projects, including Guangxi Huasheng, Yunnan Shenhuo and Tibet Qulong projects, as well as non-ferrous metal processing industry Internet platform and “space-sky-ground” integrated mine major disaster monitoring and early warning system. In the new energy battery material production technology, lithium extraction from salt lake, lithium extraction from lepidolite, new energy anode materials and other emerging industries, we constantly seek new profit growth points and hopefully create an “engine” empowering high quality development.
